4 Reasons March Is the Best Time for Tennis

When you think of March you may think of blustery winds, spring showers and crocuses poking their heads through the snow. But for me, March means tennis. March was the start of my high school tennis season and it is this time of year that I nostalgically recall getting out of class early to ride on a yellow school bus and play a match alongside some of my best friends. Perhaps you’re excited for warmer days ahead and your own tennis seasons. And if you’re still holed up at home binge-watching House of Cards, here’s some reasons to get back on the court this month.

1. Daylight Savings Time

The days will get longer starting March 8, which means more daylight to play tennis.

2. Spring Break

Many schools across the country have spring break this month and whether you’re a student or have children in school, this is the perfect time to take a vacation to a tennis destination.

3. Pro Tennis in the United States

Two major professional tennis tournaments take place in March in the United States — the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA, and the Miami Open. While watching either of these events, you’re sure to feel motivated to start up tennis lessons again.

4.  Winter’s End

Winter is officially over March 20, the day of the Spring Equinox. Just knowing that it’s finally spring will have you yearning to slip on your tennis whites and grab your racket. Plus, who doesn’t want to play on a court surrounded by beautiful flowers in bloom?
