On a changeover during a second-round match at the Roger’s Cup, Nick Kyrgios was caught on camera saying to opponent Stan Wawrinka that fellow tennis professional Thanasi Kokkinakis had slept with the Swiss star’s girlfriend.
“Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend,” Kyrgios muttered, “sorry to tell you that, mate.”
Despite offering both a private and public apology, the 20-year-old Australian has been fined $10,000 by the Association of Tennis Professionals for his lewd comment.
Wawrinka took to Twitter to express his hurt with a series of posts that included, “What was said I wouldn’t say to my worst enemy.”
What was said I wouldn’t say to my worst enemy. To stop so low is not only unacceptable but also beyond belief.

Wawrinka divorced his wife earlier this year before he reportedly began dating tennis professional Donna Veckic. The 19-year-old Croatian played mixed doubles at the 2014 Australian Open with Kokkinakis, a good friend of Kyrgios.
After the remark, Kyrgios went on to defeat Wawrinka 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 4-0 with the Swiss player retiring in the third set after suffering a back injury. That final handshake must have been tense.
