About Jennifer
My name is Jen. I am 22 years old and I will be graduating with my bachelors degree in media studies from Queens College in December 2014. I have been playing tennis competitively since I was 11 and teaching since age 16. I played two years of Division I tennis at Binghamton University and 2 years of Division II tennis at Queens College. I have taught young kids, adults and seniors private and group lessons. I have worked at Sportime clubs in Roslyn and Massapequa and Glen Oaks Country Club in Old Westbury.

Teaching Experience: 7 years

Teaching Style
I prefer and find myself having a better lesson when it is a hitting lesson. A pro can feed tennis balls for a hour to really perfect a specific stroke, but when hitting live ball, the player/client can figure out what they are doing wrong by fixing their mistakes as it would happen in a match. Because not every shot comes at the same pace and lands in the same spot, it is harder to gauge but the player can learn to adjust better. I usually start by hitting down the middle to warm up. Then, I switch to hitting crosscourt (on both sides) to focus and work on consistency on the forehand and backhand sides. Depending on what the client wants to work on, we continue with other baseline drills (figure eight drill or triangle drill), and work on volleys, overheads, serves and finish out the hour with baseline or serving points.

Hobbies
I love music (mostly house and techno music). I enjoy photography and traveling.
