Have you started to think about what you want to say thanks for this Thanksgiving? If you’re a tennis player, the sport is probably one of many things you appreciate in your life. Here’s some of the reasons we’re thankful for tennis. What would you add to this list?
1. You can still play when you’re 80.
2. And you don’t have to be 6’5” with natural athletic ability to compete.
3. It’s more fun than working out at the gym.
4. And playing has given you killer calf muscles.
5. The outfits are cute.
6. The pro players are really attractive.
7. From Argentina to Japan, it’s a sport loved around the world.
8. And going watch Wimbledon is the no. 1 item on your bucket list.
9. But Roland-Garros would be pretty cool, too.
10. You get to compete alone.
11. Or with a doubles partner who you consider to be your better half.
12. Or with a team that you couldn’t live without.
13. It’s the perfect stress reliever.
14. Taking a one-hour tennis lesson is a great break from your kids.
15. Sending your kids to a one-hour tennis lesson is a great break from your kids.
16. But being able to watch your kids play a sport you love is so rewarding.
17. And nothing’s better than having some family time on the tennis court (Parents vs. kids doubles, anyone?).
18. Your sport is so Vogue (Anna Wintour’s a huge fan).
19. And Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio love tennis, too, so that basically means there’s one degree of separation between you and them.
20. And Heidi Klum likes tennis, too (of Victoria’s Secret and MyTennisLessons fame).
21. The satisfying pop sound when you open a new can of tennis balls.
22. Or hit an ace.
23. You can play it on multiple surfaces. (Basketball players can’t say the same.)
24. You can play it indoors or outdoors. (Baseball players can’t say the same.)
25. As Andre Agassi says, tennis is basically a metaphor for life (Words like “advantage, service, fault, break and love” apply on the court and off).
26. So being awesome at tennis means you’re awesome at life.
27. And when you retire you’ll have a more exciting activity than knitting to do all the time.
So before you take a bite of turkey, say thanks for the positive impact tennis has had in your life.
