Agassi and Seles the Youngest to Win in 1990

Back in the 90s, the Sony Open Tennis tournament held in Miami, Florida, was known as the Lipton International Players Championships. With the Sony Open Tennis starting this week we are getting ready for some top notch matchups. Over the next two weeks we’ll be paying homage to this great tournament by taking you on a highlight journey, showcasing the best matches from past Sony Open and the Lipton International tournaments.

In the year 1990, Andre Agassi and Monica Seles became the two youngest players to win this tournament that year. Agassi, at the age of 19, defeated Stefan Edberg in four sets 6-1, 6-4, 0-6 6-2. On the other hand, Monica Seles, at a ridiculous 16 years of age, won the final over Judith Wiesner in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.
