In the first match where she even played a top 10 player Caroline Wozniaki showed a gritty display against Kuzntesova (9) after being down 4-0 in the first set. Facing break point at 4-0 she managed to hold serve and somehow turned the match around, winning 6 straight games. Maybe this will be a turning point for Wozniaki’s year, a year in which has seen her win only a single match in the last 9 tournaments she has entered.
After a slow start that saw her down 4-0, @CaroWozniacki roars back to take the first set 6-4. #usopen @Chase https://t.co/Kr03DMnyYH

Ryan Harrison beat number 5 ranked and Wimbledon finalist Milos Ranoic today 6-7, 7-5, 7-5, 6-1 after Raonic succumbed to cramping in the third set. Harrison, who trains in the Austin, TX heat with Andy Roddick year round, seemed right at home in the NYC heat. He scampered and scurried to everything Ranoic threw at him and Ranic wasn’t helping his own cause with 50 unforced errors through 3 sets. This is probably the biggest victory of the former top 50 Harrison’s career. He’ll meet the wily veteran and enigma Marcos Baghdatis in the third round, which is a pretty good match-up for Harrison.
Awesome hands at the net from @ryanharrison92 as he hits a sweet reflex volley. #USOpen pic.twitter.com/7OvPxTpEBh

After a somewhat shaky first round match where we saw him drop a set, Novak Djokovic received a gift when Jiri Veseley was unable to play today’s match due to injury. Djokovic’s recent struggles, at both Wimbledon and the Olympics, have been well documented so this extra rest will be much needed. Whether it was personal distraction or a wrist injury, Djokovic seems primed to put all of that behind him and defend his title.
That was easy: Djokovic advances to third round by walkover—Vesely out with injury. https://t.co/hlAEjMMVDe #USOpen pic.twitter.com/cyvaVowcBF
