There have been a number of upsets leading into the quarters of the women’s draw at French Open, the casualties including the Williams Sisters and Li Na. Besides the memorable play so far the ladies have put on quite the fashion show . Weeks before the beginning of such a high class tennis event, every female tennis fan is just as excited about the new outfits coming out as the eventual champion.
Let’s have a look at the fashion statements of this year’s French Open!
The Fashion Loosers
It seems that Julia Goerges of Germany was inspired by the impending World Cup. That’s the only explanation as to why she was dressed up as a referee. We would have forgiven her for this unique look if she hadn’t lost in the second round to quarterfinalist Eugenie Bouchard 6-2, 2-6, 1-6!
Agnieszka Radwanska has been a consistent Top 10 player on the WTA tour for a while now. Her outfit choices alongside her rankings have been impressive but when I opened my laptop the other day and Lotto introduced her French Open dress, I was shocked. These flowers all over her dress are way too much! Maybe this was some sort new tactic to distract her opponent. Well, it didn’t work because she crashed out in the 4th round.
The Fashion Winners
To some of you, Caroline Wozniacki’s outfit might resemble an upside down carrot, but I think it’s quite refreshing. Unfortunately, she was knocked out in the first round after her very public breakup with Rory McIlroy. I’d say more interesting is the outfits she’s been rocking while partying with Serena, the Miami Heat and various DJ’s down in Miami. That’s how you handle a breakup.
Here’s the girl who seems to do everything right. Why? Look at Maria Sharapova’s outfits. I look forward to seeing them every single time. This time she wears a completely rose colored outfit, with some orange highlights that are understatedly feminine. Besides that, she has her own Candy Brand AND is dating Dimitrov, one of the hottest guys on tour! As I mentioned, she’s doing things right.
