  • Caroline Wozniacki handed out iced coffee to sweaty fans.
  • Bernard Tomic needed a medical time-out to finish his match, telling the press: “I just haven’t been sleeping well here. It’s been too hot.”
  • Rafael Nadal played on without a care, as his coach and Uncle Toni Nadal told reporters: “For us, it is good to play with the sun because normally Majorca has lots of sun. Rafa feels good about this type of weather.”
  • Maria Sharapova, now a Sunshine State resident, said the heat never bothered her anyway, commenting: “It’s much warmer in my hometown of Long Boat Key. There was some cloud coverage here and I’ve trained quite long in the heat over there.”
  • An always cool Roger Federer told the press, “It was perfect playing conditions, to be honest. It was nice. No clouds whatsoever.”

Temperatures for Thursday call for a high of 81 degrees. Looks like players and fans will finally get a break.
