Retired tennis star James Blake spoke Thursday on Good Morning America about being mistakenly detained by the NYPD one day earlier in an incident that he described as “unnecessary police force.”
Blake, a former top-10 player and two-time U.S. Open quarterfinalist, was waiting outside his New York City hotel for transportation to Flushing Meadows, when he said a plainclothes police officer rushed at him, body slammed him to the ground and handcuffed him for 15 minutes.
