About Ammon
I grew up in Round Rock, TX, where I began playing tennis at age 14. I pushed myself to increase my skill and knowledge of the game, and became varsity captain for my junior and senior year of high school tennis. I then attended Tyler Junior College and earned an associate’s degree in professional tennis management. While attending Tyler Junior College, I coached at local tennis centers and facilities to build experience, and become a USPTA certified teaching professional. I currently work seasonally for The John Newcombe Tennis Ranch while attending Texas State University as a nutrition and foods major.

Teaching Experience: 2 years

Teaching Style
I believe that every player needs to have a solid technical foundation in order to implement tactics and patterns with consistency. It is also important that the student has an understanding of technique as to build good habits and establish correct muscle memory early on. I tend to emphasize more stroke production and technical analysis. I then teach students how to apply techniques with sound tactics and maximize high-percentage options within the capacity of the player. I also test students through game and pressure situations to build mental fortitude. Match play situations are the final progression in my teaching. I use proper physical training and motor learning for tennis throughout the lesson as that augments your game as a whole.

Hobbies
I thoroughly enjoy playing recreational soccer and listening to music. I’ve also played French Horn for nine years, including in college band.
