About Andrew
Hi, my name is Andrew. I return to Albion College after a semester abroad, and I can’t wait to get back to work with my teammates in the coming semester. This year as a senior, it will be my final year competing at the collegiate level. Though tennis is one of my great passions, academics have always been my primary focus. All of my recent tennis instruction has been given in small groups. My small group and individual approach to acquiring new skills both on and off the court have been developed over years of quality instruction. I hope to pass as much of this on to my students as possible. My credentials include playing college tennis at Albion College (Div. III), working as Community Education Assistant for two summers and was the Walled Lake Northern Assistant Coach for a summer.
Teaching Experience: 2 years
Teaching Style
My teaching style seeks to integrate all aspects of the game as quickly as possible. A standard 1 hour lesson is typically structured as follows: 1) Physical Preparation (Warm-up, 5-10 mins), 2) Stroke Development (Ground strokes & Volleys/Overheads, 15-20 mins), 3) Serving Practice (Serve & Serve Return, 10-15 mins), 4) Simulated Point Play (10-15 mins), 5) Cool down (5 mins). Though all stroke techniques are important, I emphasize proper serve and serve return technique the most because these compound movements can quite easily cause a variety of injuries if performed wrong. My specialties are serve and serve return.
Hobbies
