About Brian
My passion for tennis, love for teaching and my need to make a lifetime positive difference in the lives of youth made a career as tennis professional “a natural fit.” I have been teaching tennis since 1982 and truly enjoy meeting new people and helping them learn a sport they will enjoy for a lifetime. I am passionate about working with high performance juniors, taking them from tennis players to tennis athletes. I develop and implement tennis developmental tools, teach fearless mental toughness, performance skills and tennis specific fitness such as Cardio Tennis classes. My philosophy is “athletes first, winning second” and I strive to help each student become motivated internally while having fun with the process. I believe that being a “winner” has nothing to do with the score but everything to do with how you prepare, conduct yourself and the level of effort you give before as well as during competition. A good coach develops your game but a great coach improves your life. My goal is to touch every student’s life in a positive way through tennis and a commitment to developing lifelong character traits. I’m the founder and director of tennis at LiveWire Tennis Academy in Lake Oswego, OR and the former varsity men’s tennis coach at Lake Oswego High School I regularly volunteer with InnerCity Sports Ministries with their youth tennis events and am the director and head pro for Special Olympics and special needs tennis camps throughout the Portland area. I have a BS in physical and health education, Master’s degree in Education, and currently pursuing a doctorate in sport and performance psychology. I’m also a certified Elite Professional (USPTA), 5A certified tennis professional (PTR), and certified high performance coach (USTA). I’m a sponsored Prince tennis national team player and former #1 ranked player in PNW/USTA in Men’s Doubles and #2 in men’s singles (Men’s 50) and #5 nationally in doubles (men’s 50’s).
