About Evan
Hi, my name is Evan. I grew up in a tennis family and began playing at a very young age. I had success as a junior and continued on to play three years of Division I tennis at Drake University, Des Moines, IA. Following my college career I was hired as the men’s and women’s assistant tennis coach at Wisconsin-La Crosse where I obtained my master’s in human performance. Currently, I am an active coach and competitive player in the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham area. I am very connected to the Tuscaloosa tennis scene as the current assistant coach for the Alabama wheelchair tennis team, coaching pro for the University of Alabama junior tennis program, beginner tennis instructor for the University of Alabama Kinesiology Department and a 4.5 USTA men’s league player. I love teaching tennis and enjoy working with any level of player. I have spent nine years as a club tennis pro/college coach teaching and working with kids, teens and adults with varieties of experience. With my experience in the tennis world, I am confident that I can bring you to the next level of your game!

Teaching Experience: 9 years

Teaching Style
I modify my teaching styles to your individual goals as a tennis player. If you are more interested in the technical aspects of tennis, I will spend more time feeding balls and working on the specifics. If you are more interested in moving and getting in shape, we will spend the bulk of time hitting, doing footwork drills and burning calories. My personal specialty is my educational background. I have a master’s degree in human performance, and I’m currently working on my PhD in exercise physiology. I have the ability to incorporate my understanding of the human body and the movements needed to improve basic motor skills or the specific training aspects needed to be a success tennis player. My lessons are fun, upbeat and will get you moving!

Hobbies
Outside of tennis I am a PhD student at the University of Alabama and teach lecture courses in the Department of Kinesiology. I enjoy all sorts of activity and love to travel.
