About Gerry
I spent 49 years as a player. From 1968-1973 I was the no. 1 player at Tennessee High School and went on to be the no. 1 player at Carson-Newman College in 1976 and 1977.I had a two-year stint on the pro circuit
and was collegiate All-American in singles and doubles. I gave my first tennis lesson at 14 years old, spent 36 years as tennis director at various clubs and resorts, spent five seasons as the head pro at indoor facilities, and 18 summers as director of tennis for summer junior camps. I also coached Division I tennis at University of Kentucky for five years, worked with 12 top 300 players in the world for more than 25 years, and had more than 30 of my students receive college scholarships. I have a USPTA Ranking-1, was a speaker at USPTA State Convention in 2003, and was a USPTA Clinician with Bolletieri, Van de Meer, and Braden. I have taught more than 28,000 juniors and 20,000 adults and written 17 state and national tennis articles.
