About gregg
I love playing tennis, but what I truly enjoy is helping beginners learn to play the game and helping players get to the next level. I have taught youth and adult tennis groups in the Recreation and Park District in San Jacinto and Hemet as well as private lessons for all ages for 20 years, specializing in adult lessons the past 10 years. For several years I had fun as a volunteer assistant coach for the Hemet High School girls’ tennis team and have served as assistant coach of the Mount San Jacinto women’s tennis team for two years. Twelve years ago I received my teaching certification through the Professional Tennis Registry. I am 67 years old and am state and nationally ranked each year in the USTA’s Men’s Open 65 Division (highest Southern California and national rankings were 3 and 36 in men’s 65 singles in 2012). My most recent tournament win was the Palm Springs Racket Club’s Senior Open in January 2014. I have been married for 25 years and have four children — none of whom play tennis! I am the only senior player to be sponsored by Solinco.
Teaching Experience: 20 years
Teaching Style
Each lesson is typically one hour, customized to the student’s expressed needs. Most lessons include stroke development as well as practice points and games. All skill levels include instruction in strategy and the mental aspects of tennis.
Hobbies
I retired in 2012 after 36 years as a parish minister. I volunteer several hours a week for The Center Against Sexual Assault, which is directed by my wife, Gayle. I am a builder of reptile cages.
