About Jane
Hi, I started playing tennis when I was 11 and won my first tournament at 16. I then joined a junior team in the summer and soon became ranked as a 3.5 USTA singles player. I was then asked to run a program as tennis coordinator and instructor for a local town. I played on my college team, and went to 4.0 in singles/doubles when I graduated. Later, I joined my women’s competitive program and was team captain for four years, winning many doubles titles. I participated in a warm-up tournament as a wild-card to enter the U.S. Open, and made it to the quarterfinals in singles. I’m currently living in Stillwater, NJ, and would once again enjoy sharing my experience and knowledge of tennis with a group or one-on-one.
Teaching Experience: 10 years
Teaching Style
If a student can play a little, then I start feeding balls to them at the net position first. If they are a beginner
then I explain and demonstrate the basics first, and talk about what his/her goals should be. Since everyone is an individual, I structure the lesson to bring out not only the best the player can be, but also to challenge them with the ups and downs that they will face.
Hobbies
I am a professional musician, pianist, vocalist, accompanist and coach. I own Music in Motion Studios
in Lafayette, NJ, and have been teaching for 25 years. I watch the Tennis Channel, and try not to miss the
four major tournaments each year. I am also a certified riding instructor and can teach Saddleseat and Huntseat
disciplines. General interests include music concerts, hiking, bird watching and walks with my dog.
