About Jeff
I am a USPTA Elite Pro and free-lance tennis professional in Orlando, Florida. I played on a tennis scholarship at Valencia Community College and have coached at Barry University in Miami Shores and private country clubs and municipal sites throughout the state. I formerly served as State Coordinator for the Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida. I was recognized as the USPTA Florida Division’s District Volunteer of the Year in 1996, 1998 and 1999. In 2003 I received the USTA Eve Kraft National Community Service Award. The same year I was recognized with the USA Florida Tennis 15-Year Service Award. In 1996 and 1997 I was also honored with a GLBCS Spectrum Award for Recreation/Individual. I also founded the Orange Blossom Tennis Association. Through my teaching experiences I also co-founded two local nonprofit organizations serving Orlando’s youth (Delta Youth Alliance and the Genesis Community Program). In 2006 I was elected to the Board of Directors of the Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida and currently serve as its secretary.
Teaching Experience: 34 years
Teaching Style
I put an emphasis on full-court play and “smart” tennis.
Hobbies
For the last 18 years I have resided in the College Park section of Orlando with my partner Rai and two Chinese Crested Hairless dogs, Agnes and Luther. In addition to a passion for tennis and community service, I enjoy vegetarianism, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, collecting music, reading, NPR and PBS, environmentalism, conversation and a good drink.
