About Lewis
As I entered my 40s, I decided to find a sporting activity where I could stay on my feet. Throughout my life sports and fitness have been a mainstay, luckily I’ve been a quick learner. So I took lessons, soon thereafter I was asked to join a local tennis association as a assistant instructor. A couple years later they paid for my PTR certification test, I coached for them for six years. A previous endeavor was teaching adult continuing education classes for Community College of Allegheny County (10 plus years). It wasn’t until I was done teaching that I realized how much I’d missed the moments of epiphany students got when they finally understood a new, complicated concept. That’s why I don’t play USTA; I’d rather impart my knowledge.

Teaching Style
I’m easygoing, adding humor as often as required. I prefer positive attitudes. I’ll push as required. But, I’m not a yeller. If you’re looking one, I’m not for you. I emphasize technique, footwork, repeatability with skill. Lessons typically include warm-up, review, baseline, volleys and serves. More skilled clients are sometimes given the option to choose what they prefer to work on. Flexibility, and changing on-the-fly are important aspects for any coach.
Hobbies
I follow NFL football — go Steelers. Classic rock, especially 1970’s is the best. I spend my free time reading novels, history, and I’m a movie buff.
