About Rachel
Hi my name is Rachel, I grew up in Sugar Land, Texas, and currently live in Houston, Texas. I’m the daughter of NBA All-Star Ricky Pierce and former member of the 5th Dimension, Joyce Wright Pierce. I’m a spring 2014 graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University and hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations, minoring in Kinesiology. I was the No. 25-ranked player in Texas as a junior player in the super champ 18’s division. In college at UALR I played No. 5 and 6 singles for the Trojans and all three doubles positions before settling in at the No.1 spot as a freshman during the 2011-12 season. I ended my freshman season at UALR as one of only three Trojans to finish with a singles record above .500. My sophomore season was cut short due to a knee injury. I transferred to SFA, who has been a Southland Conference winning team in the past. During my senior year, I was one of two team captains for the SFA Ladyjack tennis team. I have been on the dean’s list three semester’s with a gpa as high as 3.7 and was also named an ITA scholar athlete by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. I have worked for numerous tennis academies but I have been with Rios Tennis Academy for three year now, which is located at Houston Christian High school. I love to coach and love working with younger kids to help them develop proper technique at an early age, but I also enjoy coaching teenagers and adults because it can be even more interactive. I always go the extra mile to do what needs to get done in whatever I’m doing. I work well with others and I’m always positive no matter the situation.

Teaching Experience: 7 years

Teaching Style
I always emphasize proper technique and giving 100 percent at all times. If you work hard on the tennis court and doing the proper things you will improve your game. I structure lessons differently, it all depends on the needs of the particular individual, whether it be more of a hitting lesson, feeding lesson or a mix of both.

Hobbies
I love photography. I carry my camera with me everywhere. I listen to all types of music and I love to workout and just have a fun filled life.
