About Aj
My name is AJ. I have been playing tennis since I was 8 years old. Since that time I have played from the junior tennis circuit to the satellite pro circuit. I have instructed many players of all ages and ability levels, plus have coached high school and college tennis where I have led teams to conference and regional titles. I have worked in public parks, resort get-a ways, and in private tennis facilities
My career has led me to work overseas. One of my most memorable moments was coaching a 12-member coed junior American team that toured across Europe. During that trip I coached an upcoming player that became to first American singles finalist in a national Dutch tournament.
For those more advanced, I implement a strength and conditioning component as well as can be your coach for your upcoming tennis tournaments. I also work with USTA and social leagues teams.
Teaching Experience: 13 years
Teaching Style
My style of coaching is to not only demonstrate the proper techniques and tactics, but also to show practical application on how they are necessary when playing a match. I incorporate many strategies to explain the lesson’s objective.
My preferred method of teaching is what is called “Spanish Tennis” that has been developed by former Spain Davis Cup Captain, Emilio Sanchez who once coached 2013 Wimbledon Men’s Singles Champion, Andy Murray.
I structure my lessons by doing some warm-up activities, then move into the lesson, apply it to situations in a game, then play a match on the day’s lesson.
Hobbies
Listening and playing music, playing and watching other sports, traveling, writing, and reading.
