About Alison
Hi, my name is Alison. I have been playing tennis in Southern California for 32 years and teaching tennis at all levels for 22 years. I was ranked in the top 10 in both singles and doubles for my entire junior career and top 50 in the nation as a junior. I played for Torrey Pines High School in San Diego where we won CIF all four years and my doubles partner and I won CIF individuals two years in a row. I went to the University of Nebraska and the University of Nevada on a full Division one tennis scholarship where I played number 2 singles and number 2 doubles and had a collegiate national ranking in the top 25. I am now the varsity coach for both girls and boys at Temecula High School. We have a highly successful program with the boys being champs 4 years in a row and the girls placing second for the last 5 years. I teach all levels and I love my job. Teaching is very rewarding and is so much fun to watch a player grow with each lesson and match. I teach the top female junior in
our area and many of the best females and males. I am a happy person who has been married for 16 years with two boys, one 9 and the other 1.
Teaching Experience: 22 years
Teaching Style
I believe in learning perfect technique from the beginning so you have excellent basics to rely upon during tough matches. We work hard on footwork as well as strategy and the mental game. Tennis takes more than just hitting the ball but also understanding what type of shot to play and when to play it. I structure my lessons with baseline drills first, then volleys and overheads, serves and match play at the end. Each student is different and so each lesson should be structured to what needs to be worked on. I have a great eye for seeing exactly what is wrong with the stroke and being able to fix it with understandable language. The student should love the sport and their instructor. My students are my friends and young athletes become a part of my family and my life. Tennis is a great sport that you will have for a lifetime.
Hobbies
I love all sports, love to read, cook and play with my kids. My 9 year old son is a great tennis player and baseball player. My high school players and my family consume my life and fill it with pleasure.
