About Daniel
I played USTA tournaments throughout my youth in North Carolina, dedicating countless hours to the development of my game. At the end of my high school career, I had an opportunity to continue playing in college, but I tore my meniscus during my senior year and was never able to rehab properly back to my top form.

I went to the University of North Carolina instead and played on the club tennis team before tearing my same meniscus again, thus ending my competitive career (though I still play tournaments from time to time). While at UNC I got a degree in Exercise and Sports Science, so I am trained also to help with fitness and conditioning.

I have spent time coaching many kids both independently and as a part of my local country club, and really enjoy doing it. I’m looking to develop a core group of tennis players into mentally and physically consistent athletes who can reach their full potential under my leadership.

Coaching Stats:

Coached #9 ranked Junior (U10) in NC USTA rankings
Coached #50 ranked Junior (U12) in NC USTA rankings
Coached back-to-back undefeated middle school teams in 2013-2014
Coached 2x NC Southwest Regional Champion Doubles Team
Coached 4x SMAC All-Conference Doubles Teams
Coached 3x NCHSAA All-Region Doubles Team

Teaching Experience: 5 years

Teaching Style
I specialize in teaching an aggressive, “win-the-point” mentality on the court. I emphasize the importance of the first serve, forehand, and fitness in winning points.

Typical Lesson:
– 10 minute warmup: Short Court or baseline rallies
– 5 minutes conditioning and stretching
– 15 minutes of serving (I am a strong believer a serve is necessary to properly develop one’s game)
– 30 minutes of player specific coaching
– Wrap up: conditioning/stretching/review of key takeaways

Hobbies
I enjoy playing guitar, mandolin, and piano. I’m also an avid sports fan.
