About Jared
I have been playing competitive tennis for 24 years and coaching 20 years. As a player, I competed here in Southern California on the junior circuit playing guys like Taylor Dent and Bob Bryan. I finished high school ranked top in my league and finished top 25 in the state. I then went on to try the tour, but found my passion in coaching at an early age. I played the open mens circuit after high school finishing top 30 playing great players such as Glen Michibata, Pat Crow and Roberto Rodriguez. I then decided to join the USPTA and have been with them for 16 years . At 21 I was given the opportunity to work with PBI (Peter Burwash International ). I underwent an intensive 450 hours of training at PBI headquarters in the Woodlands, TX, focusing on hotel management and the PBI coaching methods. From there I was given my first assignment as tennis director of the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego. Harry Hopman Saddlebrook Tennis Academy was my next venture as a coach. At Saddlebr
ook, I worked with high level junior tennis players for five hours a day of intense junior drilling and conditioning, I was one of five coaches specifically dealing with the 30 plus junior girls from all over the world. After Saddlebrook, I moved back to San Diego to work with the Barnes Tennis Center as the adult program coordinator. I headed all adult programs as well as working with juniors in the rising stars and advanced high performance training classes.
Teaching Experience: 20 years
Teaching Style
As far as group training, I believe in two-on-one drilling as Harry Hopman introduced. Having a well-balanced training regiment includes reading and analyzing the sport and and eating the right meals. The hours both on and off the court must be combined to achieve true success for that individual looking to maximize their talents and abilities. Private instructions are completely based on what my students want out of their tennis and how I can help them reach their goals. Remember form is not a fundamental. I strive on keeping it simple and informative enough to strengthen a player’s weakness. I listen to my students needs first. Then observe their needs or wants through drills and point play. And finally, I teach my students what they need to improve. Tennis is a sport of a lifetime and as players, we can take these strengths into our daily routines.
Hobbies
I enjoy all sports and listen to variety of music . I have three children and am working with my oldest to achieve success as a junior.
