About Katie
I’m a former Division I college player at Idaho State having only started tennis my sophomore year of high school. I went on to take fourth at state in Idaho in singles in 2003. I played anywhere from No. 3-6 singles and No. 1 doubles my junior and senior seasons in my career at Idaho State. I am a PTR certified instructor. I am currently a 4.5 level player. I love working with someone who is interested in advancing their skills and gain so much joy watching a player advance their abilities and see them “get it”. My favorite moments are when someone says they are struggling with something (say the serve or a backhand) and I fix it within one lesson enough to show remarkable change by the end of the lesson.

Teaching Style
I emphasize understanding of the game. I want you to know why you are attempting a stroke or why I’m asking you to use a particular form because you can’t internalize it otherwise. My lesson structure depends on your ability. If you don’t have the forms down enough to get the ball over the net we may break it down all the way to the point I’m drop feeding the ball. However, the goal is always to understand why you are doing something and groove a stroke so you can advance to the next level.
