About Michael
I have been around the game of tennis for as long as I can remember. I played all throughout junior high, high school and college. I have been a high school coach for 30 years. In that time my teams have been named sportsmen of the year 10 plus years and I have been named coach of the year seven times. I attribute those achievements to my coaching staff and players. Outside of coaching high school tennis I run a non-profit youth tennis camp in the summer and give private lessons to a wide range of experience levels and ages. I am currently a speaker at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. This is a coaches convention where I have the opportunity to teach fellow coaches on different aspects of tennis.
Teaching Experience: 30 years
Teaching Style
I teach with high energy, passion and a positive attitude. Some of the things I focus on are: footwork, mental toughness, fundamentals and respect of the game. My lessons consist of the following: dynamic stretching, short court, specific drills for the day that emphasize where my student is at in there progress, match play and mental toughness tips.
Hobbies
When I am not on the court, I am spending time with my family and watching sports on T.V. or in person. I enjoy listening to all kinds of music and catching up on reading when I can.
