About Rikus
I have been one of the Assistant Coaches for the UCLA Division 1 Men’s Tennis team for the past three years and will continue this upcoming year. I am originally from South Africa and played college tennis at Pepperdine for 1 season and Fresno State for my other 3 seasons. I still play at a high level with the team members at UCLA on a very regular basis. I have been teaching Summer camps since 2008 and also privately at UCLA. Due to NCAA regulations I cannot teach students that are currently in high school. Besides that, I have worked with players of all different levels and am comfortable with everyone.

Teaching Experience: 7 years

Teaching Style
I have experience teaching players with a variety of different skill sets and have always found a way to help them improve their game. With kids I spend a fair amount of time refining technique as well as correct footwork since it is generally easier for kids to learn the correct habits. For adults I often spend more time working on strategy and fitness. I base my lesson plan off of the desired outcomes of the student. If your goal is to be a high level tournament player the training will certainly be different than if your goal was to be able to rally with a few friends.

Hobbies
I enjoy photography and travelling. My girlfriend and I also own a cat.
