About Robert
I started coaching in 1985 in Spencer as an assistant boys and girls tennis coach. I was hired as head coach of Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls tennis team in 2000. In the 15 years that I’ve been at SL-O we’ve been conference tournament champions every year. Our team has sent players to state every year since 2000. I’ve coached both state champion singles players and state champion doubles players. I have been selected coach of the year in the state of Iowa twice (2012 and 2014).

Teaching Style
My lessons are fast paced and I have players hit as many balls as possible. I try not to pigeonhole players into one style. I find that every player is different and try to coach to their strengths making sure not to make more changes than the student can handle. Most of the early changes I make to a student’s game are the things that I feel are holding them back the most.
