About Ryan
I have been coaching tennis all over Los Angeles for the last five years. Prior to that, I was a Division I player and played on the Pro Futures circuit. I have coached ages 5 to 70 and enjoy working with players of all levels. I use a holistic approach, incorporating meditation, visualization, yoga, diet and fitness to help students reach their potential.
Teaching Experience: 5 years
Teaching Style
I specialize in the holistic approach to tennis. The great Jimmy Connors once said, “tennis is 90 percent mental.” Most tennis coaches focus on the strokes and technique of the game, which of course is necessary to be a good tennis player. However, once a certain base foundation is set with a player’s strokes and tennis acumen, then the mental part of tennis becomes the priority.
Hobbies
Aside from tennis, I like baseball, basketball, soccer and football. I work as a part-time sports play-by-play broadcaster in Los Angeles. I also play music (piano, harmonica and guitar) and love reading (Dostoevsky, Kerouac, Huxley) and writing. I’m interested in all aspects of self-growth and truth.
