About Suraj
Teaching tennis has been more than a hobby for me. I started playing in middle school and started teaching to elementary school kids in my community when I was a junior in high school. From there, I slowly honed my skills and taught those who were aspiring to make it onto the high school team. I was on the Neuqua Valley High School at the varsity level. Using my first hand experience and focusing on the fundamentals, I have been able to help my students reach their dreams and start a new hobby in their lives.
Teaching Experience: 4 years
Teaching Style
I emphasize my teaching on muscle memory. I’d like my students to feel as if the racket is just an extension of their arms so that hitting a ball (whether it be forehand or backhand) feels natural to them after a few lessons. Once this is solid, I start to teach them movement and making sure that they are balanced when they are playing the game.
Lessons Structure for Beginners (1 hour):
5 minute warmup
10 minute forehand feed with tips
10 minute backhand feed with tips
5 minute break (optional)
10 minute forehand with running between balls
10 minute backhand with running between balls
10 minute both forehand and backhand
That’s just an example if I were teaching a beginner and it were my first lesson. Once they improve, the drills will change and rallies will start.
