About Wood
Hi, my name is Wood. I started playing tennis at 13 and won many junior state tournaments in Kentucky. I was awarded a tennis scholarship to University of Kentucky where I played four years and was team captain as a junior. I’m currently in my 13th year of coaching high school tennis at South Oldham High School in Crestwood, KY. My teams have won our region 7 years in a row and 8 of the last 9. My team finished second in the state in 2007. The best player I have coached is Eric Quigley who was a four time Kentucky state high school champion (never lost a high school match), played number 1 at UK and finished with most college singles wins of any NCAA player in history, and was the runner up for National NCAA singles title as a senior. He is currently playing on the pro circuit. I am active as a player on the state, southern, and national level. I have been ranked number one in both the state and southern age category for doubles and number 1 in state singles. I have been ranked as hi
gh as number six in the nation in doubles and most recently 13th in age group doubles in the nation. Currently I play in two tennis leagues and play number 1 doubles for 4.0 USTA Senior League. I will be retiring from the US federal government in July 2015 and will be able to fit lessons easily into my daily schedule.

Teaching Experience: 13 years

Teaching Style
Expect full attention to what I am saying and giving the best effort to execute the drill. Depending on the level of the student is how I structure the lesson. No one method fits all. First time players get a big dose of the basics. My range extends to the upper level players. This group receives much strategy on how to win matches i.e., how to play different types of opposition, when to advance toward the net, etc.

Hobbies
Reading, gardening, volunteer work
