About Xavier
Beginning with my middle school years onward, I developed a deep fondness for tennis that remains with me to this day. Because I enjoy being active, I also enjoy road cycling, running and swimming, but my heart always remained committed to tennis. I used to spend hours on end every day on a court during my developmental years. Today, I watch it almost obsessively on TV. While I have only begun coaching on the JV high school level this year, I have taught history, economics and political science since 1997 and feel those skills transfer seamlessly onto the court, for both seek to cultivate excellence and a posture of learning from student athletes, an objective that includes and transcends winning and losing.

Teaching Style
I usually like to hear what the client would like to focus on; or, I might assess myself the range of the student’s skills to determine areas to develop. Lesson structure: conditioning and footwork, drill with a focus on one to two areas and play out some points or introduce a competitive drill with points.
