About Francois
Hi, my name is Francois. As a tennis coach I started working with both junior and professional players in 1996 in Venezuela, conducting a high-performance program with selected high-ranked players of the state team. A few years later, I directed the junior competition program for a tennis academy in Ecuador while traveling with the players during several tours of the COSAT circuit in South America. Additionally, I coached and accompanied junior players to ITF tournaments and worked with two players from Ecuador who played future tournaments on the WTA circuit. During my employment at various clubs, I had the opportunity to work with adults conducting clinics, private sessions, organizing club ladders, tournaments, leagues and many other events. Additionally, I traveled with a group of American players to Spain several times in order to attend training and tournaments. Also, I worked as the personal coach for nationally-ranked junior players in the U.S. which has allowed me to gain extensive experience in national and international USTA and ITF events. In 2012, I worked with a junior tennis development program and conduct adult clinics and private sessions at a resort in San Diego. Later in 2013, I directed a large summer tennis program in Sunriver, Oregon with over 400 players, managed 5 assistant coaches, conducted clinics for all ages and levels, private lessons, organized tournaments and social tennis events. I think it’s very important to keep up to date because modern tennis moves so fast. That’s why I have been preparing myself as a coach and in 2012, I obtained a Masters of Tennis Management, Teaching and Training from the Valencian International University in Spain. In addition, I ascertained the USPTA Tennis Professional, the ITF level 2 International Certification and attended multiple world and regional tennis conferences. Most recently I participated in the 2013 ITF Worldwide Coaches Conference in Mexico.
As a player, I started tennis at a very early age in Venezuela competing in regional, national and international tournaments. I achieved the top three junior national ranking in singles and top one in doubles. Afterward, I competed in future, satellite and challenger events on the ATP circuit reaching a career ranking in singles and doubles. I have participated in Pro-Am’s and exhibitions in a number of countries and won the national collegiate single’s championship in Venezuela in 1996, later in 2001, I obtained my bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering.
Teaching Experience: 17 years
Teaching Style
I have a deep passion for the sport and love to work with students of all ages and levels. I try to connect with the player, set up general and specific goals and work on tactical situations that give the athlete the opportunity to make decisions, develop strength and improve technical weaknesses. Most importantly, they have fun while playing the game.
Every session is different for every player so I start working on the athlete’s needs focusing on several tactical scenarios and strokes. For example: a player’s main goal may be to develop their net game so I would design drills that involve point playing with various possible situations. These may include; approaching the net after the best shot, serve and volley, chip and charge and so on. This will provide the athlete with a repertoire of plays. As the player progresses, more complex situations are practiced as well as technical adjustments are introduced.
I specialize in modern teaching methodologies, interval training, season planning, biomechanical analysis, game strategy, injury prevention, national and international tournament travel with high ranked USTA players, high-performance conditioning and mental game development.
“Take your game to a higher level working on specific tactical situations that will help improve your technique and enjoy more on the court”.
Hobbies
I enjoy spending time researching sport sciences, new technologies, tennis biomechanics. I also string racquets, love outdoor activities, practice soccer, golf and like to spend time on website design.
