About Gabe
Hi, my name is Gabe. Originally from Central VA, I started playing tennis at a fairly young age and competitively at age 13. Played #1 singles and doubles at both the high-school and collegiate level. I won two state championships and qualified for the 64-team TOC National Collegiate Championships. I also competed in USTA Tournament play and achieved ranks of Top 25 in the state and Top 50 in the Mid-Atlantic Region. With 6 years teaching experience I have amassed a wealth of knowledge across a variety of levels and environments. I have taught ages from young children to retirees, skill levels from beginner to seasoned singles and doubles players, both in country clubs and city institutions. I provide the full spectrum of lessons ranging from basic overview to all around improvement. I can help you focus on specific stroke enhancement, court awareness, assist in match preparation, or even serve as your hitting partner.

Teaching Experience: 6 years

Teaching Style
My teaching specialty is in stroke enhancement achieved by breaking down the specific stroke mechanics. I assist the client in understanding their body’s feedback to help improve the details of the swing. An added tool is the use of visual feedback allowing the client to see themselves. No two clients are the same and neither are my lessons, but typically I like to begin with short court warm-ups progressing back to the baseline. Based on skill level and point-of-focus, we will move into drills emphasizing the nature of the correct swing. Initially I will observe to allow the client a chance to self-correct and then I will provide constructive feedback. At the end we will incorporate the lesson goal into real-match scenarios to allow the client to implement what we have covered.

Hobbies
I’m a huge sports fan, especially at the professional level where I avidly follow Baseball and Football. Have been a die-hard Orioles fan my whole life and am always looking forward to the next game. I work in the media industry and in turn am quite cognizant of the latest technological trends, especially in regards to television.
