About Gregg
Hi, my name is Greg. I am a northern VA/DC native with a current USTA NTRP 5.0 rating. I played tennis at Johns Hopkins University where I was a top six singles player all years finishing #1 singles senior year. While at Johns Hopkins, I compiled a university leading 23-6 win/loss record in my career. Prior to college I played #1 my senior year at Langley High School (McLean, Va). I still love playing and teaching. I finished 2013 as the #15 player in the country for my age category (35 and over). I have previously taught tennis of all ages and levels at McLean Racquet and Health Club, Hidden Creek County Club (Reston, Va), Potomac Swim Club, and was a Head Pro at McLean Hamlet Swim and Tennis Club. I am now a practicing attorney but still love teaching and competing in tournaments and leagues.
Teaching Experience: 7 years
Teaching Style
I generally start lessons by doing some short court light hitting to assess a student’s ability and then move accordingly to work on basics: ground strokes, volleys, overhead, and serve spending more time on any particular areas of concern. I also focus on footwork and fitness. If the student is more advanced, I like to add in precision drills and playing out points to simulate actual match play.
Hobbies
Reading, movies, trail running, and always exploring different DC area restaurants.
