About Jimmie
I am originally from Alabama. I have been living in Atlanta for the last 20 years. I have a B.S. degree in Computer Science from The University of Alabama; and I have a Masters degree in Sport-Exercise Psychology from Argosy University. I have been teaching tennis to juniors and adults for the past 15 years. I have successfully helped 95% of my former junior students obtain Division I & II full tennis scholarships to colleges and universities throughout the U.S. I have also trained USTA ad ALTA teams, most of which have won city championships. I have a strong interest in player development and the mental game of tennis. I would say my strongest asset is getting the mind and body of the player on the same page. For that reason, I obtained my masters in Sport-Exercise Psychology. My educational background has made me a better coach. Building the player from the inside out has shown me that if the self-efficacy of the player can be increased; then the sky is the limit. I am a
n avid player; I have participated in tournaments and leagues for more than 20 years. I was once the number one player in GA in the Men’s 35. I have won numerous singles and doubles championships throughout my tennis career. I am currently playing AA2 tennis on a men’s ALTA team.
Teaching Experience: 15 years
Teaching Style
I am a very good technical coach, and I am big on the mental game of tennis. I emphasize technique and play using your strengths rather than your weaknesses. As your coach, I will help you to emphasize your strengths, set goals and objectives, and provide you with positive feedback.
Hobbies
I love hitting the gym and getting a good workout. I love watching college football; Roll Tide. I love movies, fine dining, slow jams, country, R & B, and soft rock. Last, but not least, I enjoy a good game of spades.
