The next court on our “MTL Tennis Court Bucket List” takes us to Paris, France. Besides attending the French Open, the city offers a magical atmosphere and sightseeing opportunities such as the Eiffel Tower and The Louvre. More importantly, if you want to play tennis in an unique ambience, stop by and rent court time at La Cavalerie Club.
Located on the seventh floor of an Art-Deco Building, this tennis club is only a few steps away from the Eiffel Tower. It was designed by the famous french architect named R. Farradèche, constructed in 1924 and received national monument status in 1986.
On the first floor underneath the tennis club, you will also find an Aston Martin dealership adding to it’s luxurious appeal. To access the tennis area you take a rather old and rickety lift that stops directly in front of the entrance of the tennis club located on the seventh floor.
The actual tennis court is situated in a wooden hall with a honeycomb style roof and sublime structure of around 1,400 pieces of wood located over a frame of parabolic arcs. Since the actual roof was destroyed by a storm in 1999, they rebuilt the current one for $ 2 millions. Again, extravagance is the key here.
Even the locker rooms are unique, fashioned after a high end tennis clubs with old school Wimbledon flaire. Before or after your hitting session you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower from the balcony right next to the locker rooms.
You can register to be part of their “Friends of tennis de la Cavalerie Club” in order to qualify for a place on the waiting list for the, unsurprisingly, very rare hours. Fortunately, there are still some times available for the ongoing season. Go for it and contact the tennis club to schedule your next tennis session in Paris, the city of love.
