There was a avalanche of reaction after Maria Sharapova announced that she had failed a drug test at the Australia Open. People were confused (“what’s Meldonium”?), angry (“strip her of her titles”) and sympathetic (“we still love you Maria!”). Of course Twitter was where all the action was happening, and continues to, after it was announced major companies were suspending all sponsorship agreements. Here are some of the reactions from the day.
Nike, Tag Heuer, now Porsche “postpone planned activities” with Sharapova. Interesting how sponsors acting quickly compared to other cases.

What's the point of someone taking a heart medicine that helps your heart recover faster unless you have a heart condition? Is thataccurate?

Capriati went on a pretty epic Twitter rant so I highly recommend reading all her other real time reactions. Absolute gold.
Still stunned that nobody on Shazza team checked new list from wada, players are responsible but this is big time oversight on team as well — Brad Gilbert (@bgtennisnation) March 7, 2016
“If I was going 2 announce my retirement, it wouldn’t b in a downtown Los Angeles hotel with a fairly ugly carpet.” Sharapova. Standards 💜
