American Teenager Taylor Fritz on 16 Match Winning Streak

Taylor Fritz, the 17 year-old American, is on a 16 match winning streak after winning two Challenger tournaments. After capturing the US Open junior title, Fritz has done all but slow down on his journey to becoming the next American champion that the country desperately desires.

After securing the title and $100,000 check in Sacramento, Fritz turned up his game even more with a 6-3 6-4 finals win over Dustin Brown in Fairfield. After his win, the American teenager remarked on his tennis. “I served a lot better than last week. In Sacramento I was off in some service games. This week I served really well and played great tennis all around.” This is especially impressive when Fritz’s draw was filled with top seeds.

Challenger Tennis Tournament Championship

Fritz is quickly gaining traction in the rankings, jumping up to world no. 232 after his stellar fall season. While we never know what the future holds, Fritz’s recent success bodes well for him in the future. As the ATP pointed out, “He joined a list that includes Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Juan Martin del Potro, Tomas Berdych, Bernard Tomic and Richard Gasquet in winning multiple Challenger titles while under the age of 18.”

Taylor Fritz is looking to capitalize on his good playing and Challenger circuit success. He is set to play in Las Vegas next.
