Djokovic Steamrolls Wawrinka! And Other Cincinnati Updates

Djokovic Steamrolls Wawrinka

This highly anticipated reunion turned out to barely even be a match. Djokovic’s 63-minute straight set victory over the Swiss looked nothing like their Roland Garros final only a few months earlier. Rather than paint the lines with his powerful groundstrokes, Wawrinka struggled to find the court. Wawrinka’s 27 unforced errors to Djokovic’s 8 says it all. Djokovic will meet Dolgopolov in the semifinals.

Lopez’s Pretty Good Summer So Far

Aside from getting married earlier this summer, Lopez just took out his fellow countryman Nadal in three sets. He will face Roger Federer’s attacking game next, the man who only needed 55 minutes to embarrass Kevin Anderson 6-1 6-1.

Murray Narrowly Escapes an Early Exit

Murray was almost sent packing by Dimitrov during their Round of 16 match. Finding himself down 5-2, Murray pulled himself together for a stunning comeback. We’ll have to see how his legs hold up after that grueling three-hour match.

Relentless Serena Williams

Serena’s serve appeared to be her biggest challenge today against Ivanovic. With only 46% of her first serves in play and 36 unforced errors, it’s no wonder that Serena lost the first set and struggled to find her way in the second. It’s never over until it’s over though, especially against Serena. Something clicked and the American didn’t look back, winning the second part of the quarterfinals match handily.
