About Ali
Hi, My name is Ali. I have been teaching tennis for more than 10 years. I was born in East Africa and am now a citizen of the United States. I was the head tennis professional at the Jewish Community Center in Dallas, Texas.
As a player, I was ranked top-10 in the nation by the East Africa Tennis Association, and also won several junior tennis championships in the 1980’s. I have also participated in EAP (Association of Tennis Professionals) tournaments. I attended Washington Adventist University, from which I received a bachelor degree in computer information systems.
Teaching Experience: 10 years
Teaching Style
I offer group lessons, private lessons and match play scenarios. I typically like to structure my lessons to simulate the goals of the student. Conditioning is very important to me, (especially with the hot Tampa sun in the summer),as well as situation-based drills. The more realistic the lesson can be, the better the results will be. I am greatly opposed to instructors that simply feed balls, with little or no feedback. This doesn’t benefit the student as much as a hands-on approach. I believe that mental confidence and psychology does just as much good on the tennis court as good strokes do.
