For the second year in a row, Jack Sock retires from the US Open due to cramping. This year, Sock was up 2 sets to 1, playing well, and had a good look at a spot in the third round. Unfortunately, his body was not up to it. Sock experienced a full body cramp and collapsed. While receiving on-court treatment, the American barely looked conscious. While he refused the wheelchair, he required help off of the court.
Sock is the 13th retirement of this US Open tournament, 11th in the men’s draw. Will these haunting statistics put in motion some changes on the men’s side? At least give them the heat rule!
