About Paul
Hello! My name is Paul and I have been playing tennis for as long as I can remember and thoroughly enjoy playing, teaching and coaching the great sport of tennis. I have been coaching since 2001 when I started off at Otsego High School and helped turn that program from a one-win team my first season to making it to State four years later for the first time in the school’s history. I have also coached at Gull Lake for two seasons and helped coach the team to State one of those seasons. I am currently the varsity coach at Galesburg-Augusta for both the boys and girls teams. Between these positions, I moved to Virginia Beach and became a certified USPTA professional where I worked for four plus years before moving back here to Michigan. My main teaching location for lessons is at the G-A High school tennis courts, but I am flexible with my locations, even if not listed on my court locations.

Teaching Experience: 14 years

Teaching Style
I am completely open to teaching and coaching all styles of play and personalities. I personally am a very positive and patient person and have a good feel for what people need. This translates on the tennis courts to knowing when to push hard and when to hold back so as to not frustrate my players. I also do not hold back (much) when it comes to my critiques of your game and will give constant praise when we “get it”. For my teaching, I emphasize eye-hand control which includes warming up with volleys and short back and forth control. I can teach the serve and volley, baseline game (with creating angles), and everything in between. My own personal match play can vary from depending on what is needed to be done … attacking the net, playing more offense or defense, adding more slices and spins, etc. Just FYI, I am right-handed and have both a one-handed and two-handed forehand as well as the lefty two-handed backhand and a one-handed backhand in which I can use all three main spins
. I will be trying to complement your current game play by adding more playing styles, (weapons into your arsenal), so that you will be able to adapt against just about any style of play you will come across. I have taught private lessons and group lessons of all ages and run a kids camps in Galesburg during the summers. I personally have no doubts that I can improve and make anyone better at tennis and if you give me a chance to help your tennis game then I know you will feel the same about me.

Hobbies
I enjoy playing and watching sports and games. Football, soccer, basketball (All-Star player one season), baseball (multiple All-Star teams), softball, volleyball, and tennis are all leagues that I have participated in. In addition, I was a member of a USTA travel tennis team that made it to the State Finals. My last two seasons as a 3.5 player I went undefeated as a singles player and it is mainly due to a high mental belief that no margin is too big to come back from.
