About Akharis
Hello all! My name is Akharis aka “Heng”. I am a recent college graduate from Warner University, a small private NAIA school in Lake Wales, FL. I have recently just moved to St. Petersburg, FL area and am looking for new clients who are looking to improve their tennis game, or would like their children to do so. I started playing tennis back when I was still living in Thailand at the age of 8. This sport has been such a huge part of my life; not only did it pay for all my college tuition, but tennis had taught me the way of life just like it does to those who know how to play. I feel like I owe this sport a lot and, moreover, I’m confident that I have what it takes to give back to it by improving the current generation and producing the next generation of tennis players. My personal accolades include: Garnered The Sun Conference Player of the Week award for the week of 3/26/2012 as well as nominated for the NAIA National Player of the Week, Voted Warner University’s Athlete of the Week after winning the school’s first ever #1 single match during the week of 2/8/2010, Two-time winner of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand (LTAT)’s National Tennis Championship in Doubles (1998, 2000), Ranked #1 in Thailand (doubles) for 2 consecutive years according to LTAT (1998-2000).
Ranked #3 in Thailand in singles (1998). At Warner University: Runner-up in both regular season and The Sun Conference Tournament in 2012. Qualified for the NAIA National Championship tournament for two consecutive years (2012 and 2013). Finished both 2012 and 2013 season ranked #17 in the NAIA.
Teaching Experience: 8 years
Teaching Style
I am very disciplinary, though I am a laid-back person and not pushy. I do not teach you a particular way to play tennis; I will work on your strength and look to improve other areas as well. Also, I consider myself to be very good at teaching technique & other mechanics in tennis. (Favorite players include Federer, Sampras, Edberg, Rafter, Kuerten, & Srichaphan!)
Hobbies
soccer, playing guitar, music, & other sports
