About Leif
I have been playing tennis since I was 6 years old. I grew up in California where I played varsity high school tennis and lead my team to back-to-back CIF titles in my junior and senior year. During my high school years I developed a base for teaching tennis with my coach by teaching beginning students and developing my fundamentals for teaching. I played junior tennis in the Northern California Section and was ranked as high as number 24 in he boy’s 18s division. I also achieved a national ranking of 527. I was a tennis counselor for three summers at Carmel Valley Tennis Camp, which was ranked as a top tennis camp in the country in the early 2000s. I taught 4 lessons a day to kids aged 11-17 from beginning to advanced. My final summer I was promoted to head tennis counselor where I was in charge of ten other tennis counselors and in charge of quality of tennis. I was recruited to play at the University of Redlands, a nationally ranked DIII men’s tennis team in Southern California and
played there for 4 years. In 2011 I began working as an assistant coach to my long time coach, Coby Roberts, at Copper River Country Club in Fresno, CA. I taught younger kids the basics of the game and assisted in USTA team tennis. Since arriving in Maryland in 2012 I have been free lance teaching mainly through use of craigslist. I have a few regulars aged 40-60 and one 7 year old. I have received only positive feedback from them about my teaching style.

Teaching Experience: 7 years

Teaching Style
I have a strong understanding of the mechanics of strokes with the ability to explain them clearly to any level of player. I can also analyze a players shots and make suggestions based on what they would like to achieve in their game. I emphasize footwork as the basis to any players game. With the right footwork everything else is just a matter of repetition. I enjoy watching players progress and to see them enjoying their improvement on the court.

Hobbies
I am training to become an archivist of paper and electronic records. I enjoy strenuous activity especially including ultimate frisbee.
