Roddick and Fish: The All-American Doubles Team is Back

Andy Roddick is coming out of retirement and playing his first ATP world tour event since the US Open in 2012. What is the reason for this tennis re-emergence? He is teaming up with his old buddy Mardy Fish who is in the last run of his own ATP career this summer. While Fish just lost to Dudi Sela in the singles draw of the of the Atlanta Open, he’s not quite finished with the tournament. The two Americans are set to play doubles this evening.

Fish isn’t focused on his results as he rounds the bend for his tennis finish line. After his string of health issues, he’s just excited to have complete control over the final days of his career. He gets to step on these courts one more time and leave the ATP tour with a smile on his face.

Roddick has been away from the professional circuit for 3 years, but he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make Fish’s last month on the tour the best that it can be. While Roddick may say, “I feel like I’m the guy who is too old to go back to a high school dance,” the fans will definitely not think so. If you are around the area, head over to the BB&T Atlanta Open to watch this All-American team back in action!
