Roger Federer Announces Retirement

This morning, 17-time grand slam champion Roger Federer announced his retirement in front of a tearful crowd at the Miami Open in Key Biscayne, Florida. The former world No. 1, who chose not to enter the tournament this year, made a surprise appearance at Key Biscayne’s Crandon Park Tennis Center where he told fans, “It’s been an incredible journey, but it’s time for me to pass on the torch.”

Before you freak out or we lose all credibility, remember today is April Fool’s and this is our idea of a joke. If you need some less cruel pranks to pull on your tennis friends, we’ve got you covered with the ideas below.

If you’re feeling sour…

Squeeze a bit of lemon juice into your tennis partner’s water when they aren’t looking. Be sure to have your smartphone ready when they take a huge gulp.

If you’re feeling ambitious…

Load up a friend’s car with tennis balls. This is probably easiest for coaches who happen to have hoppers on hoppers of balls.

If you’re feeling small…

Stuff a few napkins or a sock into the toes of someone else’s tennis shoes. They’ll be perplexed how their feet grew overnight.

If you’re stuck for ideas…

But a cheesy tennis bumper sticker on a friend’s car. Make sure you can help them get it off once they notice.

If you have a friend who’s chained to their tennis racket…

Padlock your tennis-obsessed friend’s rackets together. They’ll finally have to do another activity with you besides play tennis.

If all your other ideas stink…

Apply a thin layer of crisco shortening to a tennis friend’s deodorant. Greasy armpits for the win.

If you’re in the mood for some more serious fun…
