Shia Labeouf To Play McEnroe in Upcoming Film, Which is Perfect

In a movie that will chronicle the rivalry between John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg, Shia Lebeoef has been chosen to play McEnroe while Bjorg will be played by Swede Sverrir Gudnason. I for one think this is a fantastic development for a few reasons.

First of all, if you’ve been following Shia’s career you know that if he needs to unleash the signature McEnroe mop top he has it in his arsenal. Look at him in Holes. Underrated flow, even more underrated flick.

Also, Shia loves to yell. Loves it. So did Johnny Mac. Check number 2.

Shia’s a bad boy. I know it. You know it. Johnny Mac knows it. It’s perfect. You ever seen Mr. Deeds? That is Johnny Mac’s real life.

Shia has got the physical attributes of a Grand Slam Champion. Sia recognized his physical acting prowess when she stuck him in that birdcage.

McEnroe lost in excruciating fashion to Bjorg in the 1981 Wimbledon final what is widely considered to be one of the greatest matches ever played. Shia once watched 10 hours straight of his own films. He understands pain. He understands regret. He understands loss.

You’d be hard pressed to find a human that captures the essence of 80’s McEnroe any better. Leave it all on the court Shia. I know you will.
