Super Fed Falls to Flashy Aussie

Earlier this week at the Madrid Masters, Roger Federer fell victim to feisty up-and-comer Nick Kyrgios. The second-round loss for Fed attracted more conversation about the young gun.

The 20-year-old Kyrgios beat Rafael Nadal just 10 months ago. Now he takes down the Fed in Madrid? This young Australian not only has flair, but he’s got some serious game.

Any sort of flair in the tennis world really stands out. When Federer slaps a Rolex on his wrist, Kyrgios can be seen sliding on his fanciest pair of Beats by Dre headphones. (Although, Kyrgios claims some of his music selections have actually made him play worse.)

Those hot pink headphones rest atop an atypical tennis hairdo. I tried out his stenciled hairstyle to see if it would improve my game. It didn’t.

Don’t let the hair, headphones, or heavy chain fool you. This Aussie is here to stay and is sparking talks about if he’s “the next big thing.” At 6-foot 4-inches tall, I would say he fits the bill.

After taking down Fed in three grueling sets, Kyrgios confirmed what we have all believed to be true for some time. Roger is indeed superhuman. “I think he’s the greatest of all time. I knew before the match that I would have to play one of the greatest matches I have ever played, I wasn’t intimidated at all.”

Kyrgios’s 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 victory was partly thanks to serves that could have literally gone through me. Federer acknowledged the Australian’s shoulder cannon. “He can rely on his serve so much. It keeps him in the match regardless of he how he plays from the baseline.” Those words straight from Super Fed himself.

You don’t necessarily need audiophile headphones or a personal hairdresser to take your serve to the next level. I actually know some pretty amazing tennis pros in your neck of the woods. You still have a about two months to train for a wild card entry at Wimbledon.
