This 81-year-old shop has been stringing rackets for the UCLA tennis team for decades, but that isn’t its only claim to fame, according to a Daily Bruin article by Tarini Kumar. Westwood Village’s historic store can count tennis legends Serena Williams and Boris Becker among its customers, and Arthur Ashe as one of its former employees. Stop by to get your stick strung and look at some of the shop’s many treasures, like rackets that have seen grand slam action and autographed memorabilia.

Named LA’s “Best Tennis Shop” by Los Angeles Magazine, this Atwater store has been around since 1970. The Racket Doctor has a rich history, beginning with owner Randy Kramer’s introduction to tennis at age 14, when he started picking up balls for a local instructor in exchange for lessons. To this day, the shop prides itself on offering some of the lowest prices in the Los Angeles area as well as while-you-wait stringing services.
